Art Basel, described as the world's top fair for modern and contemporary works, opens this week, with 300 galleries displaying works, by more than 2,500 artists, with a combined total worth of around a billion pounds. The 42nd edition of Art Basel is expected to receive some 60,000 visitors. A special section of the fair called Art Unlimited features 62 large installation pieces displayed in a 16,000 square metre (170,000 square foot) space. Many of these major works are created specifically for Art Basel, which ends on Sunday.
